About Advantage General
Advantage General Insurance Company Limited has a rich history in the general insurance industry. The company was established in 1964 and following a change of ownership, became known as United General Insurance Company Limited in 1986.
In April 2006, AIC Ltd. acquired majority ownership (80%) of the organisation, a continuing demonstration of the Chairman’s, Mr. Michael Lee-Chin’s, unquestionable passion for and commitment to Jamaica. In January 2007, the company's name was changed to Advantage General Insurance Company Limited.
The company offers a wide range of general insurance products and services including coverage for:
- home and contents;
- motor vehicle;
- personal and business assets; and
- commercial property
We also provide tailor-made policies such as PenPak (householders’ policy for pensioners) and Prestige Club (policy for high-end motor vehicles). Advantage 24/7, a value-added service, is a 24-hour Roadside Assistance programme offered to private motor comprehensive policyholders, in the event they are involved in an accident or suffer a breakdown.
The company has a customer base of over 80,000 and has an islandwide network of branches located in the key business districts of Jamaica, providing easy access for all Jamaicans.
Advantage General actively participates in matters affecting the insurance industry through its membership in Insurance Association of Jamaica and participation on the various committees, as well as the Insurance Association of the Caribbean (IAC).
Offering a balance, the company is also committed to being a good corporate citizen and is involved in a number of activities. Among them is the adoption of the Elleston Primary and Infant School.
Under the unwavering guidance of the formidable Board of Directors with a wealth of experience in Insurance, Investment and Finance, Advantage General has taken an aggressive posture to improving operating results, restoring profitability while managing exposure and meeting all regulatory standards. In 2007, the company posted the highest net profit among all general insurance players in Jamaica.
